L’arte della scrittura. Il mio percorso verso il bilinguismo. The art of writing. My journey to becoming belingual.

And remember, time is money!”.

Me presenting the story

Grazie a Fabrizia Zorzenon e le sue tutors, per avermi dato lo stimolo di mettermi in gioco nuovamente e avermi fatto scoprire delle cose di me che non conoscevo.

Buona lettura!

Tell me a story – Sisters in the 50s

Elisabeth is the eldest of three sisters. Married to Luke, she is happy with her husband and their two kids. She couldn’t end her studies but would love to go to college, but she married at 20 and had her kids soon after. Luke’s trying his best to make her live a wealthy life as much as possible. He finally could buy her a washing machine and a vacuum cleaner. She was so thrilled that she couldn’t sleep the whole night. Elisabeth’s secret dream is to resume her studies and follow her sister Christine’s path. Having now more time available, maybe, her dream of becoming a writer is waiting ‘round the corner.

Christine is Elisabeth’s youngest sister and has many plans for her future. Marriage is definitely not one of them. She is intelligent, educated, and with a promising career as a lawyer. Jerry, Luke’s brother, is secretly in love with Christine. He always pretends to meet her by chance when she finishes her classes, but the girl has noticed him. Both are Sophomores at NYU. Jerry repeatedly tries to catch her attention, with no results so far. Christine tells her sister Elisabeth that Jerry’s flirting with her; although she finds him sweet and funny, her full attention is on her studies now. Elisabeth, who takes her role as the older sister very seriously, advises her little sibling to follow her heart. ‘Sweetheart’, she said, ‘please try and enjoy these beautiful years, as they will not come back again. If you fancy him, why not? You know I would love to go back to uni, but, at the same time, it’s so good to have someone at your side, who takes care of you, who loves you.’ Elisabeth’s words convince Christine, so Jerry finally gains ground and the two start dating.

Amanda, what can we say about Amanda? She is Christine’s and Elisabeth’s sister, not a romantic girl, let’s say, nor a study lover. But yes, she loves living a wealthy life. She loves partying with friends by the pool with a good glass of wine, and she’s literarily a shopaholic. Her primary goal was to find a husband with a great fortune, and she’s found one. Love? Oh my Goodness, no, please! She’s on a couple with Paul, the CEO of a big company. He constantly pays for her trips on his boat, flights to Paris, and lots, lots of parties. And, above all, he pays all her bills. What else to desire?

They got married after a one-year relationship. One month has passed since Paul and Amanda’s wedding. One night, while coming home from work, he brought her a color TV. Oh God, she was so excited. It was still a luxury thing to have in one’s home.

Their sisters always try to convince Amanda to build a career, to be someone, outside being someone’s wife. Paul reveals himself to be an essential pillar in Amanda’s life. He and her sisters finally manage to convince Amanda to go to university, and she even truly falls in love with Paul.

The three sisters finally find themselves walking the halls of the university together. Each with their dreams to fulfill.
